Our opinion on the 1994 vintage: a good vintage in all the greatest regions. For Bordeaux wines, the 1994 vintage is excellent. With a very hot summer and some rain, the harvest was early and until the last moment, all the indicators of a great vintage were present. The best successes are distinguished in the Médoc area, mainly in the Pomerol appellation. The dry white wines are clearly superior, thanks to the very good weather conditions during the August harvest. This year, champagnes experienced worrying ripening difficulties, so the quality of the vintage is average.

Regarding Burgundy wines, summer rains were accompanied by violent storms, resulting in wines of varying quality. Red Burgundies should be drunk fairly quickly. As for the whites, they are surprisingly refined.

In the Rhône Valley, the North was favored unlike the South, and the Hermitage appellation managed to produce very beautiful wines.

  

Our advice for buying a 1994 wine

In Bordeaux, the Pomerol appellation is one of the most successful. We recommend Vieux Château Certan 1994, Château Lafleur 1994 and Pétrus 1994.

Regarding Burgundy wines, look towards the Vosne Romanée and Nuits Saint Georges appellations.

In the Rhône Valley, the Guigal Brune et Blonde 1994 will seduce you.
