The 1947 wine remains a legendary vintage, marked by exceptional heat and perfect ripeness of the grapes. With a late and favorable spring and an almost tropical summer, the 1947 wines from Bordeaux are excellent. Saint-Émilion, Pomerol, Margaux, Pauillac, Pessac-Léognan – stand out for their richness and smoothness, while the sweet wines from Barsac and Sauternes offer full-bodied, rich and sumptuous wines.
In Burgundy the climatic conditions are excellent but the harvests are nevertheless not very abundant. The Corton, Grands-Échezeaux, Richebourg and Vosne-Romanée deliver powerful and sensual 1947 wines. The Loire 1947, from Vouvray to Chinon, shines with its balance. In Champagne, the 1947 wine is charming, and in the Rhône, the Hermitage 1947 radiate with unforgettable solar intensity.

The 1947 wine remains a myth in oenological history: a year marked by extreme conditions, rare maturity and wines of rarely equaled power. From the first rays of summer, the heat settled in for the long term, accelerating the ripening of the grapes while accentuating water stress. The harvest, in certain regions such as Champagne, began as early as September 5, an exceptionally early date to express the potential of this unique year.
Over time, 1947 wine can be capricious today: volatility, progressive fatigue or slight aromatic alterations are not incompatible with time. Nevertheless, under the most rigorous storage conditions, great 1947 wine continues to surprise.
We find a sunny Bordeaux wine from 1947, with delicate fermentations and opulent textures. Sauternes and Barsac display ample and sumptuous sweet wines. The aging potential of 1947 wine remains high on the finest bottles, provided storage conditions are impeccable.
