Nuits Saint Georges Appellation

The Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation is an AOC created in 1936 that produces Burgundy wines.

Nuits-Saint-Georges produces red wines made from Pinot Noir and white wines (quite rare) made from Chardonnay. The vineyard covers more than 305 hectares.

This appellation includes 41 climats classified as Burgundy Premier Cru, with the most famous being: Les Saint-Georges, Les Vaucrains, Les Cailles, Les Champs-Perdrix.

The vineyard, located on south-facing slopes, is divided into two parts by the Meuzin valley, forming two terroirs that produce predominantly red wines with distinct characteristics but sharing a structured body. The vineyard soils are composed of stony loam and marly-limestone soils.

Nuits-Saint-Georges wines have good aging potential: 5 to 15 years for red wines and only 2 to 5 years for white wines.
