Our opinion on the 2009 vintage: a very great vintage. The 2009 Bordeaux vintage is legendary, and the red wines from the 2009 vintage can be compared to the 2005 vintage. All appellations offer very great wines. The Médoc benefited from endless sunshine, as did Saint Emilion and Pomerol, which favored the harvest. The 2009 Sauternes are exceptional. Indeed, the quick harvest at the end of September produced spectacular, rich, honeyed, spicy wines balanced by a beautiful acidity. A very beautiful vintage also for Burgundy. The red wines have good maturity and are fragrant with aromas of well-ripened fruits, with a beautiful structure.

The 2009 vintage in the Rhône Valley was fantastic, both in the north and south. The weather conditions during the harvest were excellent, resulting in very great wines for long aging, especially in the Côte Rôtie and Hermitage appellations.

Finally, in terms of Champagne, the 2009 vintage is also a great success. The 2009 champagnes present rich and ripe orchard fruits, while maintaining a present acidity.

In Bordeaux, the 2009 red wines are sumptuous, bold, and rich. The left bank was particularly successful. The whites are also superb, especially the sweet wines from Sauternes and Barsac.

In the Rhône Valley, the wines are opulent, rich, with depth of color and velvety tannins. Châteauneuf-du-Pape particularly stood out.

In Champagne, overall, the wines are very good, and the best examples are likely to still drink well now.
