Our opinion on the 1964 vintage: a vintage of great quality. 

In Bordeaux, the harvest went well despite heavy rains. The Merlot maturation reached its peak, favored by a hot summer. In Sauternes, late-season rains did not allow the production of great wines. Good weather conditions in Burgundy allowed for grape maturation. Red wines are excellent, full-bodied and fragrant. In the Rhône Valley, the 1964 vintage is of very good quality but with low yields. The wines are superb, generous and of unprecedented fullness. Finally, regarding Champagnes, this 1964 vintage is also excellent.

Focus on the Pomerol, Saint Emilion and Graves appellations, which managed to produce very great wines this year.

The red wines from Burgundy of this vintage are significantly superior to Bordeaux wines in terms of structure and aging potential. For whites, the Montrachet and Meursault appellations stand out.

The Rhône wines are significantly superior in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation and in Hermitage they have great aging potential.
