1970 Wine

1970 Wine

For the wines of 1970, the vintage offers a record harvest! In Bordeaux, the 1970 vintage was very good and a welcome change after the recent complicated years. The harvest was abundant, and the quality was very good and consistent across all appellations. Among the best wines of this vintage, we recommend Château Palmer 1970, Château Lynch-Bages 1970, Château Pichon-Longueville Comtesse 1970, Petrus 1970, Château Ausone 1970, and others. In Sauternes, the sweet wines are good but a bit simple, due to a lack of botrytis. The red wines of Burgundy in 1970 are light and quite charming. In Champagne, the yield was a record for the 20th century. In the Rhône Valley, it was a serious vintage, with the southern Rhône outperforming the northern Rhône.
