Generally speaking, the 2022 vintage was marked by summer drought and climatic hazards, but this did not prevent most French regions from achieving respectable volumes after particularly lean years.

The 2022 Bordeaux wine is a great success with red wines reaching remarkable quality levels. The sweet wines, although somewhat more varied, are sometimes superb.

The 2022 red Burgundy wines, from north to south, are generally very successful showing deep color, dense flesh and intensely fruity aromatic profiles.

Regarding Rhône wines, it's not surprising that the whites, as in Condrieu, have fleshy bodies and lack a bit of acidity but display charming aromatics with spicy notes. The 2022 Rhône reds generally show a concentrated profile without falling into the excessive ripeness seen in previous solar vintages like 2003.

The Alsace wines show a lovely richness which will allow them to be enjoyed rather quickly. The Gewurztraminer and Muscat wines display certain aromatic power, offering often broad wines, while the Rieslings have managed to maintain a nice freshness and therefore interesting balance. Regarding red wine, the Pinot Noirs were able to reach nice maturity, often offering wines with great fruit intensity and ripe, structured tannins.
