Clos Des Fées
Clos Des Fées

Clos des Fées is one of the most singular and most celebrated estates in Roussillon. Founded in 1997 by Hervé Bizeul, former Best Young Sommelier of France, restaurateur and journalist, at the heart of the limestone cirque of Vingrau in the Pyrénées-Orientales, it was born of a passionate encounter with a wild and forgotten terroir, planted with old vines whose gnarled arms the village elders had always known as "old."

Starting from almost nothing, with his first grapes vinified in a friend's cellar and pressed through a butter cloth, Hervé Bizeul built in less than twenty years one of the most complex vineyards in the Languedoc-Roussillon: thirty hectares, one hundred and twelve plots spread across seven distinct terroirs between Vingrau, Tautavel, Maury, Calce, Lesquerde, Opoul and Espira de l'Agly. A rare geological diversity — comparable, according to geologists, to that of Alsace or Madagascar — that nurtures wines of exceptional complexity and depth.

The wines of Clos des Fées are recognisable for their density, their generous fruit and their ability to age with grace. The cuvée La Petite Sibérie, from a single plot of old Grenache lashed two hundred days a year by icy winds, has become one of the cult bottles of Roussillon. Vintages 2011, 2012, 2016, 2020 and 2022 rank among the most accomplished expressions from the estate.
