Expert's opinions

Château Montrose  2003 : Flamboyant, rich, lush, ripe and packed with layers of deep, dark red and black fruits, opulent textures and a finish that just won't let up. This wine is simply excellent today and could be even better with another 3-5 years of bottle age.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
Château Montrose  1996 : It was served with the 1986 Montrose, however, this is a much better wine and reconfirms Robert Parker’s remarks at his own vertical at the estate in 2014. For me, it’s that loamy character that defines the nose – freshly ploughed, damp soil that tinges black fruit – that takes you straight to this particular chateau. It’s classic through and through and very well defined. The palate is wonderful with beautiful delineation, perfect acidity, touches of graphite infusing the red and black fruits that meld into a very pretty floral finish. This is clearly one of the greatest wines of the 1996 vintage and I’d stock up on as much as I can, as it will please for 30-40 years.

Adrian van Velsen - vvWine
Château Montrose 1991 : Still surprisingly young ruby ??red, few age tones. Initially calm nose, needs time, deep, fresh, stony, red fruit, green pepper. Firm, stripped down palate, light body, good structure, rather dry, but still surprisingly good in the juice. Short, red fruity finish with tobacco aromas in the retro finish.
