Falstaff April - 2015
Falstaff
Subtle age-appropriate fresh fruit and some new oak. On the palate with a hint of sweetness, juicy base, noble astringency, viscous layers late in the palate. Chewy, yet very fresh and filled with ripe acidity. Has much more extract than the juicy palate impression suggests.

Jean-Marc Quarin October - 2018

Dark, intense, beautiful and deep color. Very aromatic, fine, pure, smooth, fruity and creamy nose. Tender on the attack, then immediately juicy and very fruity in the mid-palate, the wine offers a taut yet smooth body in its development, with an almost southern spicy touch. It finishes complex and noble, structured and very rounded. A great success.

Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider
Full-bodied, rich, spicy, intense, long, and captivating, the wine grabs you with its spicy fruits, cedar, tobacco leaf, red plums, blackberry, and floral nuances. Still youthful, yet approachable due to its structure and softness in the tannins, you can enjoy this now, if you like more primary notes, or age it as it is going to develop complexities over the years. The wine blends 67% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. Drink from 2025-2050.

Jeannie Cho Lee March - 2015

Intensely concentrated in this vintage with racy acid focus and dark fruits - cassis, dark plum and sweet spices. This is a great vintage for Calon-Segur with velvety firm tannins and a long finish.

Wine Enthusiast January - 2017

This is a beautifully perfumed wine. With a high proportion of ripe Cabernet Franc, it is not only structured but has a fine dried fruit character that gives the wine a memorable richness. The wine is tight with its tannins, likely to age over decades. Drink from 2027.

Cellar Tracker June - 2024

I had to try a bottle of this 10 years in, as I have done with some of my other 2014s. This is still very very young, but also very drinkable with a steak or lamb to hold up against the strong acids and still robust but fine tannins. This has deep black and red berry fruit up front, but also a smoky tone along with substantial vanilla oak still to be integrated. Some licorice finishes it out. At this point, very promising but punches one in the face a bit today. Wait for a long time on this. It will probably score higher as it becomes more evolved.

Wine Spectator March - 2017

On the darker side of the spectrum, with dark currant, plum and blackberry fruit, inlaid with ample dried bay and tobacco notes. Pepper and charcoal details fill in the finish, adding range and energy. A touch sauvage in style, this will have fans for sure. Best from 2020 through 2030.

Everything is right about this magnificent wine, the quality of the tannins, the harmony, the density, the fullness, the juiciness, the great length.

Jancis Robinson February - 2014

Youthfully dark garnet. Sweetly fruited, both black and red. Leafy, open and inviting. I thought it might be very slightly bretty/meaty but this impression was not shared by most in the group. Compact, fine tannins, just a little bitter on the aftertaste. But the fruit is excellent and I put this up half a point on retasting. It was the overall top-scorer in the St-Estèphe flight even though it was not my highest scorer.
