Appellation Richebourg
The Richebourg Appellation
Richebourg is a Controlled Designation of Origin (AOC) from Burgundy. The appellation also has the European Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) label. The vineyard covers nearly 8 hectares, on the localities of Le Richebourg and Les Verriolles. The grape variety harvested there is exclusively Pinot Noir. The climate is slightly temperate with a continental tendency. The complexity of Richebourg appellation wines is due to the fact that the vine tends to suffer from the climate.
Under the Richebourg appellation, you'll find the prestigious Domaine de la Romanée Conti, as well as great Burgundy wine producers such as Domaine Leroy, Méo-Camuzet, Jean-Pierre Mugneret, Domaine Gros, Jean Grivot or Domaine Liger Belair.
The Grand Cru and Premier Cru wines from the Richebourg appellation often have long aging potential. Generally, it takes about ten years before tasting, sometimes even 20 to 30 years.
