Appellation La Tache
La Tâche appellation
La Tâche is a French designation of origin (AOC) that produces Burgundy grand cru wines. La Tâche also has a European label of protected designation of origin (PDO). Its name comes from an old Burgundian expression ‘doing a task‘ which means cultivating a vineyard in exchange for a lump sum payment.
Monopoly of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti since 1993, the area of the vineyard is only 6 hectares. The grape variety produced there is Pinot Noir. The harvest of the grapes, the vinification, the elaboration and the aging of the wines are carried out in the town of Romanée-Saint-Vivant in the Burgundy region. La Tâche grands crus are flamboyant and elegant. Wines with aromas of liquorice and spices, humus and mushrooms. These are great wines that charm from their youth and improve over the years. The wines of the La Tâche appellations have a very good aging potential: 10 to 20 years on average and over 50 years for the greatest vintages.
The best vintages of the La Tâche appellation are 1937, 1971, 1990 wines, the 1996 vintage, the vintage 2002 and 2009. The years 1928, 1929, the vintage 1945, 1971, 1978 and 2005 are the best vintages of the millennium.
