This was not as thrilling as I'd hoped. Very deep ruby. Dom de la Romanée-Conti colour with much shading and a yellow rim. Actually less obviously violets on the nose than the Clos de la Roche from Remy! But it opened up in the glass – some luscious mushroom cream sauce aromas – and was really energetic although the acidity is coming to the fore, alas.

Bricked through to the center. This was quite an interesting wine, particularly for the vintage and while clearly tiring, there were still hints of the classic La Tâche spice and class on the now completely secondary and tertiary nose. The flavors are rich and sweet though now beginning to thin somewhat though the finish picks up as it coats the mouth with velvety extract. All in all, a more than respectable showing though I confess to being surprised that this wine does not outshine the Romanée Conti, given the young vines in the RC.
