Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
I cannot think of a more profound, young red Burgundy tasted than DRC's 1990 La Tache. Although it still requires another 3-4 years of cellaring, it is incredibly endowed, with an extraordinary perfume of Asian spices as well as jammy black raspberries, cherries, and blackberries infused with smoke, toast, and dried herbs. Full-bodied, but ethereal, with layers of flavor, as well as mind-boggling delicacy and complexity.

Allen Meadow - Burghound October - 2018
Allen Meadow - Burghound
Tasting note: Remarkably, even at 27 years of age there is still no bricking. A stunning, highly expressive and completely classic La Tâche nose that displays almost unbelievable complexity so with many different elements that it is impossible to even begin to describe them all; the primary components include ethereal and still fresh pinot fruit, clove, knock out spiciness, anise, hoisin, soy and a trace of earth but these elements only hint at the sheer depth. The flavors are big, rich, refined, classy, penetrating and superbly powerful yet everything is in perfect balance and there is more than sufficient sève to balance off the still considerable tannins. The finish is intense, pure and so long that it is haunting; I could literally still taste this wine days later after I had it because it had such a dramatic and emotional impact. In its youth, this was one of the finest young Burgundies that I have ever been privileged to try and it only seems to get better with each passing year. For my taste, this is getting close to arriving at its peak though again I stress that this is to my taste and some may find it to already be in its sweet spot of maturation. In short, this is absolutely brilliant.

Three vintages of La Tache (1978, 1985, 1990) were tasted blind and I chose this one as my second favorite after the 1978. I have always been a big fan of this vintage of La Tache and it isn't at all that this bottle disappointed - it is a wonderful La Tache. However, the 1978, with more evolution and greater complexity and nuances acquired through time was seductive and perfect to enjoy now. I have no doubt the 1990 will also evolve to become as delicate yet powerful and persistent as the 1978 with another decade in bottle.

Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider
This profound wine offers stunning aromatics, a palate presence that was as deep, silky and complex as any wine ever made, from anyplace! This was accompanied by an ocean of perfectly ripe fruit that filled every inch of my palate with sweet, elegant, plush fruit and ended with a finish that kept on going. This wine was off the charts! As most people know I am not a Burg guy. I've been fortunate to have been able to taste several great Burgs over the years including a few vintages of Romanee Conti. This 90 La Tache remains the best Burg I've tasted and believe it or not, one of the top wines I experienced in 2006!

Jancis Robinson October - 2010

Rather tawnier than the Ponsot Clos de la Roche 1990. Earthier and more autumnal on the nose than the Ponsot. Lovely delicacy but underlying violets and completeness. A little tannin evident, attractively brawny. Some jewel sensation. Seems as though it may grow in the glass. Very sweet yet earthy.

Domaine Romanée Conti
Domaine Romanée Conti

Acquired by the Prince de Conti in 1760, the 1.85 ha vineyard produces little more than 6,000 bottles of mythical and exceptional wine per yearl. After the French Revolution, the area was declared a national asset, Romanée Conti counted many owners, including family-Duvault Blochet, who acquired several other parcels, including La Tâche, Richebourg and Echézeaux. Today, every bottle of Romanée Conti is signed by both Aubert de Villaine and Henry-Frederic Roch. Romanee Conti was the last vineyard in Burgundy to resist phylloxera, but during the second world war, the lack of carbon disulphide led to its destruction in 1945. For five years, from 1946 to 1951, no vintage was produced. The conditions of vinification and aging (maximum maturity of the fruit, very high selectivity, maximum precautions at every stage, breeding new wood) can produce an exceptional wine. Thus, magnificent complex aromas evoking rose, violet, spices, truffles and leather are in this sumptuous wine. All Domain Romanee Conti is implemented to produce only wines to keep. Biodynamics has taken over the last ten years a different share under the new leadership of Henry Frédéric-Roch, one of two co-managers of Domaine Romanee Conti with Aubert de Villaine. The owner of Domaine de la Romanee-Conti, one of the most famous vineyards in the world, has been elected Decanter Man of The Year 2010 by the eponymous magazine. Aubert de Villaine is the largest producer of wines from Burgundy to receive this award since its inception. Modest, it seems that he also refused at first to be rewarded, before changing his mind to finally accept. Co-owner of the domain family of Romanée-Conti with the Leroy family, Aubert de Villaine long hesitated before walking in the footsteps of his father. After studying law and literature, he flew to New York and began his career as an importerof wines from Burgundy. Fascinated by wine, he also devoted himself to journalism and has interviewed, among others, Robert Mondavi 1966. During this period his father called him  to his side. He started as an apprentice to the field. Since then, he has consistently put his dedication, passion and service requirement of Romanée-Conti, which continues to produce the greatest red wines in the world. .
