Our opinion on the 1966 vintage: an excellent year overall. The 1966 vintage in the Bordeaux region benefited from particularly favorable weather conditions, giving it notable quality comparable to the prestigious vintages of 1961 and 1970. The red wines are distinguished by their density and balance, while the sweet wines from that year are characterized by their lightness and finesse. In Burgundy, despite poor conditions until late August, 1966 is a very good vintage. The wines are good, firm and well-balanced. The Rhône wines are excellent, the weather conditions in 1966 resulted in very great wines, particularly in the Côte Rôtie and Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellations.
