Jean-Marc Quarin December - 1990
Jean-Marc Quarin
Brick red color. Evolution with dark reflections. Beautiful intensity. Bright. Clean and very intense nose. Very fruity and fine. Quite complex. Caramel. Prune. Blackcurrant. When swirled, clean and intense, still fine and complex. Lots of freshness. Soft, delicate and melted attack. Development on a straight, elegant, fresh and fruity structure which gains amplitude without becoming excessive and retains all its aromatic complexity. Slow evolution on very well-balanced, fine and refined tannin. Great astringent and nuanced length. Stylish. Ready to drink and to keep.

Still hanging on in a pleasant way. Black fruit, charcoal, dust. Some tannin for structure and good acidity. Well past its best but interesting and enjoyable with identifiable Montrose character.

Château Montrose

Château Montrose, a second growth in the 1855 classification, is a 68-hectare wine estate in Bordeaux located in Saint-Estèphe.

The grape variety composition of Château Montrose consists of Cabernet Sauvignon (65%), Merlot (25%) and Cabernet Franc (10%). The grapes undergo a long fermentation of 25 to 30 days. The wine matures for 19 to 22 months in oak barrels, 50% of which are new. Château Montrose wines are intense, massive, and complex. They develop aromas of ripe fruits, spices, and tobacco. Château Montrose wines are both powerful and dense, characteristic of the great wines of Saint-Estèphe. The second wine is called La Dame de Montrose.

The great vintages of Château Montrose include, among others: 1953, 1955, 1959, 1961, 1989, 1990, 2009
