The Château Montrose is made up of Cabernet Sauvignon (65%), Merlot (25%) and Cabernet Franc (10%). The grapes undergo a long fermentation of 25 to 30 days. The wine matures for 19 to 22 months in oak barrels, new to 50%. The wines of Château Montrose are intense, massive, complex. They develop aromas of ripe fruit, spices and tobacco. The wines of Château Montrose are both powerful and dense, characteristic of the great wines of Saint-Estèphe. The second wine is called La Dame de Montrose.

Very beautiful colour, ruby red, shining. The nose is still a bit closed (it is advised to open the bottle 4 hours before drinking) but very pleasant, red fruits, red current.
The mouth is perfectly balanced. The tannins are fine still present but well integrated. Richness, acidity, a nice length. This wine is an immense pleasure today but is also made to last.
Wonderful clean berry fruit with currant, light mint and mineral following through to a full, firm palate with long, silky tannins and a mineral, berry and spice aftertaste. Lovely wine. Firm. This is squeaky clean and beautiful. Enjoyable now but better to wait a few years still.--Non-blind Château Montrose vertical. Best after 2007.
