Unlike previous years, the harvest of the 1950 vintage was abundant. In 1950 in Bordeaux, the weather was uneven but the overall quality of the 1950 vintage remains quite good. The wines of Pomerol performed superbly, they are sublime. Among the best wines of this vintage, we recommend Château Latour 1950, Château L'Evangile 1950, Château Lafleur 1950, Château La Fleur-Pétrus 1950, Château Le Gay 1950, Vieux Château Certan 1950, and Château Soutard 1950. For Sauternes, the year was humid but the Indian summer saved the harvest. Château Climens 1950, Château Suduiraut 1950, and the unparalleled Château d'Yquem 1950 remain the most beautiful successes of this vintage. In Burgundy and Champagne, production was abundant but quality was low, and the wines do not age well as they are too diluted. For the Rhône Valley, it was a good wine year. It performed quite honorably across all appellations.
