Château Calon Segur
Château Calon-Ségur is a 94-hectare wine estate located in Saint-Estèphe on the left bank of the Gironde. Third growth classified (official 1855 Médoc wine classification) of the Saint-Estèphe appellation, the grand vin is often recognizable by its label. The estate's grape variety composition consists of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc with vines averaging 40 years of age. Calon-Ségur wine is generally considered one of the most powerful and full-bodied wines of the Saint-Estèphe appellation.
The estate also produces a second wine called 'Marquis de Calon Segur' and a third wine named 'Saint Estèphe de Calon Ségur'. For tasting a wine from the Château, we recommend the Calon-Ségur 1982, the Calon-Ségur 1988 as well as the Château Calon-Ségur 1995. We also suggest the 1996 and 2000 vintages. Finally, Château Calon-Ségur 2003, Calon-Ségur 2005 and 2010 are excellent.
