The Bonnes Mares Appellation

The Bonnes-Mares Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC) is first and foremost a Burgundy Grand Cru, one of the most renowned in the region.

The Bonnes-Mares appellation is located in the communes of Morey-Saint-Denis and Chambolle in the Côte de Nuits wine region of Burgundy. With a vineyard area of 16 hectares, more extensively spread over Chambolle-Musigny than Morey-Saint-Denis, it is one of the largest crus in Burgundy. The grape variety grown there is Pinot Noir. The wines offer a bouquet of violet, forest floor, leather, spices... Rich and sometimes a bit wild, they require several years of rest in the cellar. Indeed, Bonnes-Mares wines have good aging potential of 10 to 20 years on average and 30 to 50 years for the greatest vintages.

The best vintages in the Bonnes-Mares appellation are 1929, 1933, 1937, 1945, 1947. The wines from 1949, 1952, 1959, 1961, and 1966 are excellent. Finally, the vintages 1969, 1971, 1976, and 1989, 1990 are exceptional.
