Domaine Armand Rousseau
The Armand Rousseau estate was founded at the beginning of the 20th century by Armand Rousseau. The estate comprises over 15 hectares of vineyards, including 8.5 hectares of grand crus and 3.8 hectares of premier crus cultivated using sustainable agriculture practices. The vineyard soils are limestone and clay-limestone. The Armand Rousseau estate produces six emblematic Burgundy Grand Crus: Chambertin, Charmes Chambertin, Chambertin Clos de Bèze, Ruchottes Chambertin, Mazy Chambertin, and Clos de la Roche.
The wines from the Armand Rousseau estate are suitable for long-term aging: 15 years for the premier crus and 20 years for the grand crus. We recommend the Armand Rousseau Clos de la Roche 1986 and the Armand Rousseau Chambertin Grand Cru 2008.

Wine aging is done in 100% new oak barrels for the Chambertin Clos de Bèze. The Clos Saint Jacques is aged in 70% to 100% new barrels depending on the vintage. All other grand crus are aged in one-wine barrels. The barrels come from Allier forests and undergo medium toasting. The aging period is 20 months during which two rackings are performed. Bottling usually takes place in April after a light filtration for cleanliness to preserve the delicate fruit of Pinot Noir. The wine is bottled by gravity, directly from the barrels after blending.
