(8-1993) Less dramatic than either the 1989 or 1990, the 1988 is still a flashy, seductive, full-bodied, well-endowed, generously oaked wine. Its tannins are slightly more aggressive than fans of this property's wines usually expect. Nevertheless, the wine exhibits plenty of extract and size, along with some of the vintage's herbaceous character.

Château Haut-Marbuzet is a 61-hectare wine estate owned by the Duboscq family, located in Saint-Estèphe. It is a Médoc AOC and is classified as an exceptional Cru Bourgeois. The work of the Duboscq family has made Château Haut-Marbuzet a wine of the highest quality among Saint-Estèphe wines. Château Haut Marbuzet is also full of charm in its youth, developing wonderful spicy notes and red fruit aromas. Considered by some as the most Burgundian of Bordeaux wines, Château Haut Marbuzet was designated as Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel during the revision of the Crus Bourgeois classification in June 2003.
