Expert's opinions

88 / 100
Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider

Dark red color. Good intensity. Uniform. Hint of evolution. Nose of medium intensity. Nuance of candied fruit. Hint of spice and wood. Fruit on swirling. Soft attack developing on a round-shaped structure, quite velvety, even a little soft. Very well-coated and flavorsome tannic development which leaves a finish where some woody flavors still appear. Sustained persistence, without too much complexity but it's good. An overall fluidity reminiscent of sandy soils. Can be tasted and waited for. Has completely lost its initial hardness.

Château Canon La Gaffelière
Château Canon La Gaffelière

German Stephan von Neipperg has spared no effort to restore the former glory of this highly reputed château in the years following World War II. Cultivation has become more rigorous, yields have been significantly reduced, and vinification has embraced modern methods, giving the wines remarkable concentration. The château also produces a very expensive and highly sought-after cuvée outside the appellation, called Mondotte.
