Château Certan De May

Château Certan de May is a wine estate in the Bordeaux region. The Château produces its wines under the Pomerol appellation. Neighboring Vieux Château Certan and Lafleur Petrus, the vineyard is one of the highest in the appellation, adjacent to Petrus. It is mainly composed of old vines, with an average age of thirty years, planted on clay-gravel soil. The grape varieties consist of 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, and only 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. Harvested late and thus benefiting from the full maturity of the grapes, this wine proves to be of a very high standard.

The very well-balanced, rich, and complex wines combine woody and fruity aromas (cherries, blackcurrants,... ). The aging potential is impressive in great vintages. Among the most beautiful successes, the 1945, 1975, and 1980 vintages are to be favored. We recommend the Château Certan de May 1981, Château Certan de May 1982 and the Certan de May.

The name "Certan de May" originates from Scotland. Indeed, of Scottish origin, the May family settled in France during the Middle Ages. The family was given the estate by the King of France. With the help of Michel Rolland, the estate's wines have continuously improved in quality and established themselves among the great names of the Pomerol appellation.
