The history of Château Poujeaux

Château Poujeaux is a wine estate located in Moulis-en-Médoc, in the Gironde region. Its history dates back to the 16th century, when the lands belonged to Château Latour. In the 19th century, the Poujeaux lands became independent and were acquired by the Castaing family.

In 1880, the estate was divided into three parts following an inheritance. One of these parts was purchased by François Theil in 1921. In 1957, his son reunited the three parts to reconstitute the original estate. Château Poujeaux was then managed by Jean Theil, and later by his three children from 1997 to 2007.

In 2008, Château Poujeaux was acquired by Philippe Cuvelier. Today, the estate is co-managed by Matthieu Cuvelier and Christophe Labenne. The current owners have brought new energy and great ambition to the estate while maintaining the family spirit.
