Wine 2009 Cru Classé  Bordeaux Pessac Leognan

The rainy and cold winter followed by a spring was rather favorable to the vineyard, but violent hailstorms affected some of the plots in May. The magnificent summer, hot but not scorching, produced fruity grapes in perfect health. The splendid end of the season allowed us to reach ideal maturity with complete peace of mind.

The Cabernet Sauvignon are concentrated, elegant, fruity and fresh. The Merlots, very sweet, produced rather alcoholic wines, but without unbalancing the blend. This beautiful maturity brings a creamy character coating powerful tannins.

Deep garnet robe with purple reflections. Deep nose of ripe black and red fruits. Biscuity oak with fine grain. On the palate, an ample and melted entry with well-integrated and refined tannins then a firmer and more austere mid-palate and finish. Greater integration still needs to be achieved.

Truffle, tobacco, cigar box and smoke are joined by bright red fruits in the nose. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, soft, elegant tannins and ripe cherries with a touch of spice and olives in the finish. The wine still seems youthful, so another few years of bottle age will help add even more softness and complexity to the wine. Smoky red fruits, vanilla, tobacco and earthy aromatics create the nose. On the palate, the wine has soft, fresh, elegant characteristics, polished tannins and sweetness in the fruits on the back end. This has aged quite nicely.
