The 2009 vintage

The 2009 vintage is sunny in its temperatures and promises to be very beautiful in terms of the quality of the wines. Some reds and sweet wines are anthology.

Bordeaux

The weather is perfect for flowering, oscillating between warm days and beneficial rains. The alternation of cool nights and warm days are conducive to the concentration of aromas and the accumulation of anthocyanins. Complete maturation is reached without problem. The wines are of a very good quality, both red and white, the success is equal. Rich, concentrated and powerful, the red wines are long-lasting. Those of Pauillac and Saint-Estèphe are to be underlined. The dry whites are aromatic and powerful and the sweet wines rich, elegant and distinguished.

Champagne

The weather is favorable for the harvest. The health status is very good. Chardonnays lack flowering and maturity. The Pinots are much better. Some houses decide not to release the 2009 vintage. Overall, the wines are still good.

Bourgogne

The maturation is perfect for the winegrowers who did not wait too long to harvest. The harvests are done in very good weather, reflecting the vintage. Red wines are ripe, dense and concentrated. They age very well and for a long time. The whites are a little more modest but just as successful, particularly those from cool terroirs. In Beaujolais, we can talk about the “vintage of the century” with superb cuvées.

Rhône

With the weather, the winegrowers know that the harvest will be small, especially for Grenache, Cinsault and Carignan. This is confirmed by increased drought and very high average daytime temperatures. The reds are velvety, smooth, tannic and expressive. In the Hermitage and Saint-Joseph appellations, the reds remain in the annals. All the qualities expected of a good Rhône red are gathered: frankness, expression, breadth, power, finesse and elegance.
