Deep ruby with some browning at the edges - not surprising. Raspberry, red currants and cedar & forest floor mixed both in the air and in the mouth. Resolved tannins and mature but very supple and enjoyable to drink. Still has good acidity. Certainly a drink now especially from a standard bottle instead of a mag. This was a pleasant experience but not surprising as I have had good luck with good right bank producers in this vintage. After 30 years, it's not falling off any cliffs, but it doesn't seem like it needs time unless you have a large bottle.

Lovely. This is medium-bodied, firm and velvety, with berry, tobacco and herbal notes, firm, chewy tannins and a clean finish. Delicious now.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
As a longtime fan of this property, I have been candid about my disappointment with most vintages of Trotanoy between 1983 and 1989. Certainly the 1990 appeared to be a return to the big, burly, concentrated style of Trotanoy produced in the forties, fifties, sixties, and early seventies. I am now convinced this property is on the rebound, as a result of sensational efforts in 1993, 1994, and the 1995, the latter wine the greatest Trotanoy since the 1970 and 1982. A dark rubypurple color and a closed set of aromatics need to be probed to find the sweet, ripe fruit that appears to have gone into hiding since bottling. The masculine 1994 Trotanoy is backward, powerful, and in need of 5-7 years of cellaring. It is rich and medium to full-bodied, with outstanding fruit extraction, beefy, burly, and a true vin du garde.

Color of medium intensity and evolved. Fruity nose. Cedar note. At first, this bottle appeared corky. Tasted again the next day, this was no longer the case. Tender mouth, medium body and without angle. Coming to the end of his life.

Discreet, dusty nose, soft palate, feather-light intensity. Not for keeping.

Château Trotanoy
Château Trotanoy, Pomerol et Lalande-de-Pomerol. This illustrates that thought the name meant in Old French word too anoia "or" too boring "(when working the land) is located on one of the best exposed portions of the famous plateau of Pomerol and was acquired in 1953 by the firm Jean-Pierre Moueix, since operators. The soil mix - half of them serious based on clay and half deep black clay - on a bed of iron dross, giving the wine both power and depth and a complexity. The vineyard Chateau Trotanoy partly saved by the dramatic frosts of 1956, is approaching an average age of 35 years. It is cultivated in the traditional way (regular plowing, thinning, stripping) and picked up ideally in two or three afternoons. Fermentations take place in cement vats and the young wine is then aged in oak barrels, half of which is renewed annually. . Castle Trotanoy among the most sought after wines of the appellation and can be kept for decades in the great vintages. .
