The weather conditions were similar to those of 1989, with a very hot and dry summer. As a result, the young vines were likely suffering from drought. Fortunately, the September rains were extremely beneficial to the final ripening of the grapes, which were harvested under the sun.
Pavillon Rouge 1990 from Château Margaux is so delicious to drink today that it is surely a shame not to enjoy it now. This second wine is particularly fine, subtle and charming. It is very similar to the Grand Vin of the same vintage, without having the same power and the same aging capacity.

Château Margaux is one of the largest wine estates in Bordeaux. In AOC, Margaux appears in the first classified growths of the official classification of Médoc wines of 1855.
If it is a privilege to bear the name of its Margaux appellation, there is no doubt that Château Margaux does it great honor.
For several centuries, this Premier Cru Classé has expressed to the highest degree the exceptional qualities of terroirs patiently brought together by several generations of owners. Maintained and harvested exclusively by hand with extreme care, the 78 hectares of vines (75% Cabernet-Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 5% Cabernet-Franc and Petit-Verdot) draw their richness very deeply from the soil. clayey-gravelly, particularly dense and thick.
Fermentation in oak vats, after which the wine is strictly selected, is followed by 18 to 24 months of aging in new oak barrels. A masterpiece among the Bordeaux wines, the best according to some, Château Margaux reveals finesse and opulence, depth and complexity on tasting, and develops a bouquet of rare elegance of rose, violet, black fruits, under -taut by tight tannins that require patient aging before blossoming. The château also produces a second wine, Pavillon Rouge du Château Margaux, and a dry white wine, Pavillon Blanc du Château Margaux (100% Sauvignon Blanc).
Best vintages of Château Margaux are : 1900, 1928, 1953, 1982, 1983, 1986, 1989, 1990

(08-2013) Beautiful purple color. Elegant nose. Precious wood, chocolate. The palate is rich, juicy, dense. Another nice aging potential. Very good length (over a minute).
(03-2001) Somber red. Medium to good intensity. Evolved. Clean. Very ripe fruit, a bit fresh and complete for a second wine, but a touch vegetal. A bit animal but not much. In the mouth, suave, carressing and fat enough, develops roundness with delicate flavourful and fine tannins. All together it melts in the mouth and it is absolutely delicious. The most interesting aspect is the appetizing nuance and the drinkability.
(09-2007)
(02-1993) The 1990 is a lovely wine, with a fragrant bouquet, soft, medium-bodied, smooth-as-silk flavors, fine concentration, enough acidity for focus, and a fine finish.
