Cellar Tracker June - 2020
Cellar Tracker
Medium dark garnet in colour with a hint of orange at the rim. Delicate nose of black tea, rosehip, red currant, cherry, dried rose petals and lots of bell pepper. More herbal than floral or fruity. Medium light bodied on the palate with dried rose petals, black tea, cherry, red currants and more bell pepper at the end. Elevated acidity. No tannins. Very dry on the finish that is just a bit tart. A very pleasant surprise!

Blood red colour. Medium intensity. Evolved. Nose of medium intensity. Discreet. Notes of cedar and dead leaves. Some fruit remains. Fairly clean (no vegetal notes). Paul Pontallier would have preferred to produce a third wine to avoid this type of flavour, which he finds slightly dry. Personally, it is true that the style, reminiscent of wines of old due to these notes of tea and dead leaves, comes as a surprise.

Château Margaux
Château Margaux

Château Margaux is one of the most prestigious estates of the Margaux appellation and a major historical figure of Bordeaux excellence. Classified as Premier Grand Cru Classé during the official 1855 classification, the château relies on a terroir of fine and deep gravels that favors the expression of a wine of rare elegance and great aromatic complexity.

The Grand Vin of Château Margaux has been recognized since the 17th century as one of the most accomplished expressions of the Bordeaux vineyard. It owes its qualities to the combination of an exceptional terroir, demanding viticulture and vinification work oriented towards precision and balance. Tannic finesse, aromatic depth, freshness and length on the palate constitute the constant markers of the Margaux style.

Iconic vintages such as Château Margaux 1899, Château Margaux 1949, Château Margaux 1953, Château Margaux 1982, Château Margaux 1990, Château Margaux 1990, Château Margaux 2000 or the iconic Château Margaux 2015 illustrate the estate's capacity to produce wines of great complexity, capable of evolving harmoniously over several decades, while maintaining a remarkable readability of their terroir.
