1993 PAVILLON ROUGE du Château Margaux 1993

At Château Margaux, the 1993 vintage is of good quality. Climatic conditions during 1993 were very favorable for flowering. Perfect weather until September when the harvest was rainy.
Pavillon Rouge 1993 from Château Margaux is rather light, but fine and well balanced.

Blood red. Medium intensity. Evolved. Clean. Medium intensity. Discreet. Notes of cedar and dead leaf. There remains some fruit. Quite clean (no vegetal notes). Paul Pontallier would have preferred to make a third wine to not have this type of taste he considers a bit dry. For me, it is true that this style is similar to older wines with the surprising notes of tea and dead leaves. However, the structure is not dry and the wine remains smooth.

Château Margaux
Château Margaux

Château Margaux is one of the largest wine estates in Bordeaux. In AOC, Margaux appears in the first classified growths of the official classification of Médoc wines of 1855.

If it is a privilege to bear the name of its Margaux appellation, there is no doubt that Château Margaux does it great honor.

For several centuries, this Premier Cru Classé has expressed to the highest degree the exceptional qualities of terroirs patiently brought together by several generations of owners. Maintained and harvested exclusively by hand with extreme care, the 78 hectares of vines (75% Cabernet-Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 5% Cabernet-Franc and Petit-Verdot) draw their richness very deeply from the soil. clayey-gravelly, particularly dense and thick.

Fermentation in oak vats, after which the wine is strictly selected, is followed by 18 to 24 months of aging in new oak barrels. A masterpiece among the Bordeaux wines, the best according to some, Château Margaux reveals finesse and opulence, depth and complexity on tasting, and develops a bouquet of rare elegance of rose, violet, black fruits, under -taut by tight tannins that require patient aging before blossoming. The château also produces a second wine, Pavillon Rouge du Château Margaux, and a dry white wine, Pavillon Blanc du Château Margaux (100% Sauvignon Blanc).

Best vintages of Château Margaux are : 1900, 1928, 1953, 1982, 1983, 1986, 1989, 1990
