CHÂTEAU MARGAUX 1995

This year, bud burst and flowering were early and even. With a summer worthy of that of a very great vintage, hot and very dry and the rains of September, the grapes reached perfect ripening.
Château Margaux 1995 is a real success. A wine that brings together all the characteristics of a great wine: richness, power, freshness, complexity and depth. All the aromas are not yet fully visible, but the wine promises to be even more harmonious than it already is. It can be stored for several more years before reaching its peak.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
Medium garnet colour going brick at the rim. The nose is beginning to showing signs of evolution with aromas of leather, game, warm cassis, dried plums and cloves. Medium to high acidity, medium body and medium to firm, fine tannins support earthy, blackcurrant-preserve fruit. Long finish. Drink now – 2030+. Tasted February 2009.

Intense ruby ??garnet, violet rim lightening, animalic hints on the nose, leather, roasted nuts, vanilla, complex and attractive, powerful on the palate, good extract sweetness, the tannins still require some time, at the moment still a bit too hard, mineral, very promising.

Dark color, good intensity, and slightly evolved. Fresh nose. Ripe fruit. Fine. Careful and even sophisticated entry. The wine develops aromatically with richness. However, after the mid-palate, as with La Tache, it catches on the finish. On the other hand, it is very long and ultimately very good, with the feeling that it needs to be waited for a long time.

Adrian van Velsen - vvWine
Ripe Bordeaux red, lightened rim. Delicately floral and playful, with very nice depth, smoky notes, and violets. A slender, restrained entry then expands, with fine tannins and well-integrated acidity. Complex, with tension and a certain heat, the wine displays energy without being overpowering, yet is very balanced and convincing with a very long finish, offering plenty of reserves. Now available until 2030+

Dark crimson with some evolution at the rim. Very focused and concentrated. Lots of concentrated cassis on the nose. Some graphite. Really cool and fresh (there are apologies for serving it too cool). Middle aged. Far from luscious but very true to type. Still quite bit of tannin in evidence. Work in progress.

Château Margaux
Château Margaux

Château Margaux is one of the largest wine estates in Bordeaux. In AOC, Margaux appears in the first classified growths of the official classification of Médoc wines of 1855.

If it is a privilege to bear the name of its Margaux appellation, there is no doubt that Château Margaux does it great honor.

For several centuries, this Premier Cru Classé has expressed to the highest degree the exceptional qualities of terroirs patiently brought together by several generations of owners. Maintained and harvested exclusively by hand with extreme care, the 78 hectares of vines (75% Cabernet-Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 5% Cabernet-Franc and Petit-Verdot) draw their richness very deeply from the soil. clayey-gravelly, particularly dense and thick.

Fermentation in oak vats, after which the wine is strictly selected, is followed by 18 to 24 months of aging in new oak barrels. A masterpiece among the Bordeaux wines, the best according to some, Château Margaux reveals finesse and opulence, depth and complexity on tasting, and develops a bouquet of rare elegance of rose, violet, black fruits, under -taut by tight tannins that require patient aging before blossoming. The château also produces a second wine, Pavillon Rouge du Château Margaux, and a dry white wine, Pavillon Blanc du Château Margaux (100% Sauvignon Blanc).

Best vintages of Château Margaux are : 1900, 1928, 1953, 1982, 1983, 1986, 1989, 1990
