(04-2002) The prodigious 1999 Ermitage Le Pavillon boasts creme de cassis aromatics intermixed with unmistakable aromas of ink. It is full-bodied and fabulously concentrated as well as powerful, with a finish that lasts for fifty seconds. This saturated black/purple-colored 1999 exhibits remarkable symmetry, purity, and overall massive size all juxtaposed with a sense of elegance and restraint. It is a monumental achievement, but ultimately is less successful than the great 1998 or 2000.

(11-2002) Dark red color. Good intensity. Long live. Beautiful. Nose of medium intensity. Fruity. Cocoa. Almost smoked. Wall. Pretty. At the agitation fine touch of soot. Great maturity obviously. Supple and pulpy attack, developing on a fine touch on the palate and a remarkable fresh taste associated with licorice. Slow, melting tannic development, with good density but no more. Superbly enveloped tanicity on the finish, ending with more complex and distinguished aromas this time. It's delicious and especially fine, to make the bordeaux pale.

Chapoutier
Since 1808, the name Chapoutier has existed in the Rhone Valley. The distant ancestor Polydor Chapoutier began by buying some vines then becoming winemaker then grower, breeder and negociant. The pioneering spirit was already in the family.  Since 1990, Michel, is leading this exceptional company. A land rich in history and traditions. Passionate expression of soils, Michael gives his convictions ways to thrive. History of time. As is true for each element of nature. Time and the earth. Roots, the vine and the fruit. This is where the richness and generosity of the Maison M. Chapoutier begins.
