James Suckling April - 2024
James Suckling
The nose is like an essence of Mirabelle plums that pulls you into its tight inner orbit like a huge yellow star. This starts so quietly, but expands and expands as it flows over your palate in a way that’s not quite like any other white Rhone I can remember. How can a wine with such gigantic concentration have such perfect balance? The most amazing thing is the way the toasty richness interacts with the primal stony side of the wine: two faces of the same coin. Limited production. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
The 2021 Ermitage l'Ermite Blanc was tasted one month prior to bottling, hence the parenthetical rating. Scents of crushed stone accent notes of apricot, pineapple and lime on the nose, while the palate is medium to full-bodied. In the mouth, this is straight, almost severe; it tells you when to jump and how high, with zesty, briny notes lingering long on the finish.

Wine Spectator April - 2025

Shows real depth and style, with flattering notes of toasty oak draping over a core of yellow apple and star fruit, all grounded by chalky mineral elements and finely beaded acidity. Firmly structured and well-built, this will go the distance in the cellar.

Jancis Robinson October - 2022

Extremely complex nose without the immediate welcome of Le Méal. Heady and fine with some wild-flower notes. Excellent acidity. Many different layers and amazingly lithe for a Hermitage Blanc. Quite chewy on the end. This one will run and run! (JR)

M. Chapoutier
M. Chapoutier
Since 1808, the Chapoutier name has existed in the Rhone Valley. The distant ancestor Polydor Chapoutier was the first to start buying vineyards, thus moving from being a winemaker of an estate to becoming a winegrower, wine producer and merchant. The pioneering spirit was already inscribed in the family. Since 1990, Michel, in his forties, has been at the head of an exceptional vineyard. A land rich in history and traditions. Passionate about the expression of soils, Michel gives his convictions the means to flourish. Breaking choices, to succeed in synthesizing the past with his own audacity. History of time. As it goes for each element of nature. Time and earth. The roots, the vine and the fruit. From there was born all the richness and generosity of Maison M. Chapoutier.
