James Suckling April - 2024
James Suckling
Descend into this labyrinth of spices and you may never return. The black fruit and the most perfect violets will take you prisoner and never release you. Absolutely astounding tannin structure, not from the quantity, but from the finesse and the beauty. Then the explosive finish that pulls you up in the direction of syrah nirvana. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

Jancis Robinson May - 2022

Deep crimson. Very savoury, expressive nose. Unexpectedly juicy palate – most unusual! Almost approachable until the chewy finish. Very sturdy and this is the Chapoutier 2021 Hermitage that is most like the Hermitage stereotype.

Wine Spectator April - 2025
Wine Spectator
A blockbuster of power and scale, particularly for the leaner vintage. Brushed with cedar polish and backed by serious mineral intensity, the ripe core of winey cherry and cassis shows real richness. A refreshing blast of herbs and mouthwatering acidity adds savory lift, while columns of iron form the solid backbone. Best from 2026 through 2042.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
Unlike in some vintages, there's no stem inclusion in the 2021 Ermitage l'Ermite. It's still plenty complex, with hints of crushed stone joining boysenberries and blueberries on the nose. Medium to full-bodied, this is intense, crunchy-textured, bright and taut in the mouth, then silky on the finish.

M. Chapoutier
M. Chapoutier
Since 1808, the Chapoutier name has existed in the Rhone Valley. The distant ancestor Polydor Chapoutier was the first to start buying vineyards, thus moving from being a winemaker of an estate to becoming a winegrower, wine producer and merchant. The pioneering spirit was already inscribed in the family. Since 1990, Michel, in his forties, has been at the head of an exceptional vineyard. A land rich in history and traditions. Passionate about the expression of soils, Michel gives his convictions the means to flourish. Breaking choices, to succeed in synthesizing the past with his own audacity. History of time. As it goes for each element of nature. Time and earth. The roots, the vine and the fruit. From there was born all the richness and generosity of Maison M. Chapoutier.
