Château Cheval Blanc had a fairly hot and dry year in 1990. The harvest, both qualitative and quantitative, presents an ideal maturity with very rich berries. 1990 is a very great, powerful vintage. An interesting cru classé to taste for all wine lovers.

SoDivin January - 2012
SoDivin
Tasted "en famille" with members of the SoDivin team. Beautiful bright color, without any trace of evolution. Fairly discreet nose, which gradually opens towards subtle aromas of mushrooms, leather and coffee. But the most impressive aspect is the palate. Perfectly balanced, silky, velvety, full, rich, smooth, subtle and with infinite length. This wine has everything one could expect from a very great wine at full maturity. It deserves the maximum score.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
The 1990 Cheval Blanc is fast becoming my favorite modern-day vintage of this Saint Emilion estate and perhaps the 1990 is now exiting the slip-steam of the feted 1982. This is unequivocally a brilliant wine. The nose holds nothing back, a line of senses all doing the conga towards your olfactory senses: macerated dark cherries, exotic kirsch-like aromas, leather, mahogany bureau, touches of crème de cassis and herbs all vie for attention. The palate is full-bodied and cloaked in a silky, velvety texture that leaves you a little ga-ga. There is so much fruit ram-packed into the bravura of a finish. Moreover, there's just so much joie-de-vivre and decadence in this wine, but it never seems overpowering or ostentatious. This bottle came from perfect provenance, as it was served blind by winemaker Pierre Lurton at a private dinner hosted by a mutual friend in Bordeaux.

Extremely rich and smooth, but also notably appetising. This wine has been beautiful all its life. Dark and 'minerally' with a whiff of cordite. Wonderful combination of flattering richness and sweetness with freshness.

Château Cheval Blanc
Château Cheval Blanc

Château Cheval Blanc is one of the most iconic estates of the Saint-Émilion appellation, on the right bank of Bordeaux. Classified as Premier Grand Cru Classé A, it holds a singular place in the history of the Bordeaux vineyard, both for the exceptional consistency of its quality and for the uniqueness of its terroir and grape varieties. Located at the natural border between Saint-Émilion and Pomerol, the estate benefits from a rare mosaic of soils in Bordeaux, combining gravel, clay and sand.

The vineyard of Château Cheval Blanc extends over approximately 39 hectares, divided into numerous distinct parcels, each vinified separately in order to preserve the expression of its terroir. The grape variety, dominated by Cabernet Franc, complemented by Merlot and a small proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon, constitutes an exception in Saint-Émilion and gives the wines a slender structure, natural freshness and remarkable aging potential.

The estate's philosophy is based on extremely precise parcel viticulture, controlled yields and vinifications conducted with rigor and restraint. The aging process accompanies the wine without ever masking the purity of the fruit or the complexity of the terroir. The wines of Château Cheval Blanc are distinguished by their rare balance between intensity, finesse and aromatic depth.

Among the iconic vintages are notably Château Cheval Blanc 1947, Château Cheval Blanc 1949, Château Cheval Blanc 1955, Château Cheval Blanc 1982, Château Cheval Blanc 1990, Château Cheval Blanc 1998, Château Cheval Blanc 1989, Château Cheval Blanc 2000, Château Cheval Blanc 2005, Château Cheval Blanc 2010, regularly praised for their longevity and elegance.
