The Cheval Blanc 2010 offers a dark dress and a beautiful color. On the nose, the wine presents a complexity typical of the great Cabernet Franc. On the palate, the notes of fresh fig, blackcurrant, blackberry, cherry and raspberry mingle. The finish is remarkably long. This 2010 vintage from Cheval Blanc has great aging potential and can now age beautifully for several decades.

Deep garnet in color and made of 54% Cabernet Franc and 46% Merlot, the nose of the 2010 Cheval Blanc is a bit subdued to begin, measuredly opening out to reveal achingly provocative notions of molten chocolate, preserved Morello cherries, baked blackberries, boysenberries and blueberry compote with wafts of underbrush, cigar box, cumin seed and sandalwood. Full-bodied, the palate is a full-on atomic bomb waiting to go off, with very tightly coiled, slowly maturing black fruits eking out glimpses of a vast array of nuances. Still very youthful, it finishes with an incredibly persistent, jaw-dropping display of earth and mineral fireworks. I’d leave this one for another 5 years and drink it over the next 50.

This is the finest Cheval Blanc for many years. It is, quite simply, magnificent. The wine shows the greatness of Cabernet Franc in the vintage, withof the variety in the blend. It is beautifully structured and perfumed, with velvety tannins, balanced acidity and swathes of black-currant and black-cherry fruits. It's well on course to becoming a legendary wine.

Fine spice nuances underlaid with a hint of coconut, pleasant noble wood spice, delicate notes of nougat, ripe cherries, very multi-layered, seductive bouquet. Juicy, good complexity, extract-sweet, multi-layered texture, present, precise tannins, here everything is perfectly executed that makes truly great wine, has an excellent future ahead.

You'll want to wait at least a decade before breaching a bottle as massively endowed as this, with loads of loamy bass notes thumping along underneath a riveting track of licorice snap, pastis-steeped black currant fruit, maduro tobacco and espresso. And then there's an echo of petrichor at the very end that hints at the aromatic fireworks to come with cellaring. Should compete for wine of the vintage. Best from 2020 through 2040.

The 2010 Cheval Blanc gives off notes of violets, roses, cedar, tobacco, spices and blackberries, resulting in a very aromatic wine, with rich, velvety tannins and a density that is prominent on the mid palate and finish. More restrained in style than the 2009, this is a classic, precise wine built to last for many decades. While the 2010 is wonderful I have a slight preference for the 2009, which has more sex appeal, perhaps on account of its much higher Merlot content - 60%, compared with only 44% in 2010.

Very beautiful nose of fresh fruit, subtle, soft, slightly smoky and deep at the same time. Meticulous texture from the entry on the palate where the wine nevertheless begins a little discreet. On the other hand, it develops structure from the middle and goes ascending, long, perfumed leaving an impression of both delicacy, but also firmness. This contradiction makes me think that this bottle, which I currently judge to be closed, should not be opened.

The palate too has a sweet intensity to the fruit that makes it lift in the mouth, a cherryish, cassis-ripe immediacy, but beneath that layering of precise tannin and acidity.

Dense blackish garnet with only the lightest evolution at the rim. Exceedingly intense, opulent nose with the suggestion of a spice cabinet about it though definitely some Cabernet influence. Opulent texture - velvety - but far from heavy. Definitely refreshing and definitely Cheval. A classic. Reminds me of the great ripe vintages of old. Opulent but fragrant with the tannins nicely and effectively covered by the precise, ripe (by no means overripe), well-judged fruit. You could certainly start to drink this but I suspect it has a glorious future.

Château Cheval Blanc is one of the most iconic estates of the Saint-Émilion appellation, on the right bank of Bordeaux. Classified as Premier Grand Cru Classé A, it holds a singular place in the history of the Bordeaux vineyard, both for the exceptional consistency of its quality and for the uniqueness of its terroir and grape varieties. Located at the natural border between Saint-Émilion and Pomerol, the estate benefits from a rare mosaic of soils in Bordeaux, combining gravel, clay and sand.

The vineyard of Château Cheval Blanc extends over approximately 39 hectares, divided into numerous distinct parcels, each vinified separately in order to preserve the expression of its terroir. The grape variety, dominated by Cabernet Franc, complemented by Merlot and a small proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon, constitutes an exception in Saint-Émilion and gives the wines a slender structure, natural freshness and remarkable aging potential.

The estate's philosophy is based on extremely precise parcel viticulture, controlled yields and vinifications conducted with rigor and restraint. The aging process accompanies the wine without ever masking the purity of the fruit or the complexity of the terroir. The wines of Château Cheval Blanc are distinguished by their rare balance between intensity, finesse and aromatic depth.
