Appellation Pauillac

Located in the Bordeaux region between Saint-Estèphe and Saint Julien, the small port city has given its name to an appellation located in the center of the Médoc vineyard and thus represents the capital of Médoc. Pauillac is the only communal appellation to include three first growths: Château Lafite-Rothschild, Château Mouton Rothschild, Château Latour. With 18 classified growths, it has a reputation at the height of its terroir. Culminating at about thirty meters, the vineyard presents itself as a plane gently inclined towards the estuary. From these very pure gravelly ridges, Cabernet Sauvignon wines are born which combine finesse and tannic strength. Severe in their youth, they deserve to be expected to be fully appreciated. After a few years of aging, sometimes several dozen, they develop an extremely rich and complex bouquet, their tannins round out and the wines take on a fine and delicate character, while maintaining a great finesse.

Area: 1190 ha / Soils: Günz gravel, sandy soils on clays / Grapes: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot / Aging Potential: 10 to 20 years (much more for some wines and vintages)
