Classic Pauillac notes of cedar, cassis and tobacco. The generosity of this vintage comes through in the broad mid-palate and ripe tannins.

The deep ruby/purple-hued 2003 d’Armailhac exhibits notes of Asian plum sauce interwoven with creme de cassis, licorice, and roasted herbs. With moderately high yet sweet tannin, an earthy character, and chewy, muscular, deep fruit as well as medium to full body

The wine was bottled in May 2005 and was already drinking very well. Beautiful color. Intense nose, with ripe and fresh fruitiness. Almost fine, very pleasant. The entry on the palate is ample and the wine develops full of aromas, of fruits with a pleasant structure, barely firm. Maximum pleasure will be there in 5 years.

The wine Palate : A blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot, the 2003 d’Armailhac is medium to deep garnet-brick in color. It swans out with gregarious notions of baked plums, boysenberry preserves, and blackcurrant jelly, giving way to hints of tobacco leaf, sauteed herbs, and rusty nails. The medium-bodied palate delivers chewy tannins and plenty of freshness to support the earthy flavors, finishing on a mineral note.

Deep garnet. Pruney fruit on the nose, a touch leathery. Some farmy notes on the palate and tannins pretty dry. Hard work and bitter on the finish.

Château D'Armailhac
Château D'Armailhac

Château d'Armailhac is a Cinquième Grand Cru Classé from Pauillac whose history dates back to the 18th century, deeply linked to that of the Médoc and the Rothschild family. Long known under the names Château Mouton-d'Armailhacq, then Château Mouton-Baron-Philippe and Château Mouton-Baronne-Philippe, the estate reclaimed its historical name in 1989, asserting a distinct identity among the great wines of Pauillac.

Located on deep gravel terroirs characteristic of the appellation, the vineyard benefits from grape varieties dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. This diversity allows for precise blends, faithful to the classic style of Pauillac: assertive structure, elegant tannins and aromatic expression combining black fruits, spices and cedar notes.

Under the impetus of the Rothschild family, Château d'Armailhac has experienced a remarkable rise in qualitative consistency, while maintaining an accessible positioning among the classified growths. Vintages such as Château d'Armailhac 1995, Château d'Armailhac 2000, Château d'Armailhac 2005, Château d'Armailhac 2016. illustrate the estate's ability to produce balanced, expressive wines capable of aging, sought after by lovers of great Pauillacs.
