Gilbert & Gaillard March - 2010
Gilbert & Gaillard
Beautiful deep color retaining a young rim. Ripe nose redolent of cherry and redcurrant. On the palate, a supple, melted wine highlighting lovely quality fruit. A light-bodied wine, already drinking well.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
Tasted at BI Wine & Spirits' 10-Years-On tasting, the 2007 D'Armailhac has a very attractive bouquet with ample black fruit laced with violets and blueberry, quite Margaux-like in style. The palate is medium-bodied with svelte tannin, a crisp line of acidity, commendable structure and a lovely graphite-tinged finish that lingers long in the mouth. This appears to have improved in recent years, and it comes thoroughly recommended.

La Revue du Vin de France
RVF Magazine Pretty fine nose, smoky, with a touch of reduction. It refines in the air. Open mouth, supple and tender. A pleasant wine that already offers itself.

Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider
A solid example of classic Bordeaux, with its medium bodied, expression of fresh, bright, red fruits, wet earth, tobacco, cedar and cigar wrapper. The tannins have a nice polish that adds to the soft, easy to like, red berry finish. This is very strong for the vintage.

Quite solid, plum and blackcurrant fruit, with very nice fruit sweetness. Tannins are ripe and silky, but there is a spicy, powerful edge to them. Fruit is good, and finishes long and spicy.

Soft, juicy and fruity, relatively light in character. The tannins are fresh, supporting black currant and fresh, juicy fruit flavors. It's easy and open, developing well, but quickly.

Tobacco, chocolate and some dark fruit on the nose lead to a medium body, with light fruit and a lean, hollow midpalate. Very light for this estate.

Mid bricky red. Undergrowth and warm bricks, gently inviting, just a touch meaty. Smooth though still with a slight firmness. Harmonious if rather slight on the palate. Easy to drink and enjoy now.

Château D'Armailhac
Château D'Armailhac

In the 17th century, the Armailhacq brothers owned plots in Pauillac. It was in the 18th century that their descendants decided to plant vines there. Several d'Armailhacq family members, whose spelling changed regularly, subsequently succeeded one another at the head of Château d'Armailhac.

In 1855, the château was classified as a fifth growth in the 1855 Médoc Classification, under the name of Château Mouton d'Armailhacq. It was also during this period that Count Ferrand became the owner of the estate and created the limited company of Domaine de Mouton d'Armailhacq. In 1989, Château d'Armailhac took the name by which it is known today, Château d'Armailhac. The label features a small Bacchus, paying tribute to the vine. The 50 hectares of the estate, located between Châteaux Pontet-Canet and Mouton Rothschild, house in their outbuildings the technical and agricultural facilities necessary for the wine of Château d'Armailhac and that of Mouton Rothschild.
