John Huston, a talented painter, produced the etiquette of Château Mouton Rothschild. A light and airy watercolor that highlights the ram, one of the symbols of the Château, the sun and the vineyards. His dedication to Baron Philippe de Rothschild: "In my homage to my very dear friend, Baron Philippe for his sixtieth harvest at Mouton", testifies to his friendship for a man, and his attachment to a place whose magic had known the seduce.
Château Mouton Rothschild 1982 reveals aromas of gingerbread, menthol and very ripe fruit as well as a few touches of cinnamon. It is a powerful, ample, round, seductive and charming wine. This Premier Cru Classé is made from 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc and 7% Merlot.

Mouton Rothschild is arguably one of the best-known wine estates in the world. In AOC Pauillac, since 1973 it has been First Classified Growth in the official classification of Bordeaux wines of 1855.
Bought in 1853 by Nathaniel de Rothschild, Brane Mouton became legendary under the name of Château Mouton-Rothschild. It is with the advent of Baron Philippe de Rothschild that Mouton really becomes the monumental 1er Cru that it is today. Mouton Rothschild 1945 and 1982 are among their finest vintages. In addition to the construction of cellars and buildings, and the accession to Premier Cru status, it is the passion of a lifetime rediscovered in action by this exceptional man.
Classified as a Second Classified Growth in 1855, Château Mouton Rothschild has been a Premier Classified Growth since 1973. Its motto "First not then, second not deign, Mouton am" thus became "First I am, second I was, Mouton does not change".
The elegance and magic of this wine have thus charmed the greatest contemporary artists who, each year, illustrate with their art the priceless wines of Mouton by creating an original work on the label. Château D'Armailhac and Château Clerc Milon follow in the footsteps of this quality concern of the Rothschild family.
The great vintages of Château Mouton Rothschild are: 1994, 1989, 1986, 1985, 1983, 1982, 1970, 1966, 1962, 1961, 1959, 1955, 1953, 1949, 1947, 1945

(02-2022) Mouton Rothschild 1982 is drinking brilliantly today, soaring from the glass with aromas of cassis, dark berry fruit, charcoal, pencil shavings, espresso roast and loamy soil. Full-bodied, ample and enveloping, it's a layered, sumptuous wine that's remarkably seamless and complete, with impressive concentration, ripe but lively acids and fine, melting tannins. Long and resonant, this is a great wine that can keep company with the likes of Mouton's 1961, 1959 and 1955.
(06-2021) Texturally, this opulent, showy, supple, lush wine, which manages to harness an incredible depth of fruit feels just great as it rests on your palate. The finish crosses the sixty-second mark with ease. I suspect well-stored bottles will be even better with another 5 years or so and should remain at their extraordinary level for at least another 2 - 3 decades after that.
(01-2019) Dark ruby garnet, almost black core, delicate water edge. Wonderful blackberry confit on the nose, floral notes, spicy, fine cassis, a hint of nougat, typical Florentine touch. Perfectly balanced on the palate, elegant and extremely sweet, shows a firm, robust tannin core, mineral-salty, very good length, some velvet, nougat and blackberries on the finish, a great wine with a perfect finish, nougat in the aftertaste.
(06-2001) Glorious aromas. Dark ruby red. Wonderful perfumes of flowers, berry and lilac. Full-bodied, with silky tannins and a long and pretty finish. Balanced. Class in a glass.
(09-2007)
(10-2021) This Mouton wasn't just singing from the bottle, it was joyfully dancing at the same time. Expressive, exuberant and delicious - a wine that can is at its ultimate peak drinking window now. A joy to taste and enjoy - it is hard not to smile when drinking this wine.
