A complete shock to everyone who tasted this blind at La Trouvaille. Tasted alongside Lynch Bages 66, a little fatter on the nose with notes of cedar and cooked meats. Good poise and freshness. The palate has good depth, smooth tannins and quite vivacious. Full of life and vigour. Where does the concentration come from? Who cares - a wine that stuck two fingers up at all its critics who have ever dismissed this wine. Lovely.

It all begins with a deeper and more evolved color with vermilion reflections. The nose remains discreet but refined. This is a true aging bouquet with notes of cedar and cigar, very pleasant without being complex. How to achieve this in such a small vintage? I like the palate for its melted character and its aromatic notes, where fruit and more vegetal notes mingle. Curiously, this wine is more about aromas than structure. It persists on a taste of cedar and blackcurrant, on a slightly austere tannic grain. Nobility emerges. A performance for a small vintage.

Château Mouton Rothschild is one of the most iconic wine estates in the world. Located in the Pauillac appellation, it is the only estate in the official Bordeaux wine classification of 1855 to have been elevated to the rank of Premier Cru Classé in 1973, having initially been classified as a Deuxième Cru.

Acquired in 1853 by Nathaniel de Rothschild, the estate — then known as Brane-Mouton — became Château Mouton Rothschild and entered into legend under the impetus of Baron Philippe de Rothschild. A visionary, he profoundly modernized the vineyard, developed the cellars, and imposed an absolute commitment to quality, making Mouton one of the greatest wines of Bordeaux. His motto illustrates this unique ascent: "Premier je suis, second je fus, Mouton ne change."

The singularity of Mouton Rothschild is also expressed through its artistic labels, illustrated each year by great contemporary artists, reinforcing its cultural and heritage aura. This pursuit of excellence can also be found in the other properties of the Rothschild family, notably Château Clerc Milon and Château d'Armailhac.

From the mythical 1945 and 1961 vintages to the 1982 vintage and the 1996 wine, through to a more recent year such as the 2004 wine, the wines of Château Mouton Rothschild rank among the most coveted in the world of wine. The estate complements its grand wine with a second wine, Le Petit Mouton, created in 1993, and a rare white, Aile d'Argent.
