(02-2004) A complete shock to everyone who tasted this blind at La Trouvaille. Tasted alongside Lynch Bages 66, a little fatter on the nose with notes of cedar and cooked meats. Good poise and freshness. The palate has good depth, smooth tannins and quite vivacious. Full of life and vigour. Where does the concentration come from? Who cares - a wine that stuck two fingers up at all its critics who have ever dismissed this wine. Lovely. Tasted February 2004.

(04-2002) It all starts with a more sustained and evolved color with vermilion reflections. The nose remains discreet but fine. It is a real bouquet of aging with notes of cedar and cigar, very pleasant without being complex. How to do in such a short year? The palate pleases me for its melted character and its aromatic notes, where fruit and more vegetal notes mingle. Curiously, this wine is more in aromas than in structure. It lingers on a taste of cedar and blackcurrant, on a slightly austere tannic grain. Nobility emerges. A performance for a small vintage.

Mouton Rothschild

The Château Mouton Rothschild is one of the most prestigious wine in Bordeaux. Since 1973, it is a first classified growth in Médoc classification of 1855.

Purchased in 1853 by Nathaniel de Rothschild, Brane Mouton became a legend under the name of Mouton-Rothschild. With the advent of Baron Philippe de Rothschild Chateau Mouton Rothschild became the truly monumental 1er Cru it is today. In addition to the construction of cellars and buildings, and the ascension to 1er Cru status, it is the passion of a lifetime manifested in action by this remarkable man. Ranked Second Cru in 1855, it is now, since 1973, a premier cru classe. His motto became "First I am, second I was, Mouton does not change." The elegance and magic of this wine has charmed the most important contemporary artists who each year, illustrate their an original work of art on the label of Chateau Mouton Rothschild. Chateau D'Armailhac and Chateau Clerc Milon followed suit in the quality of the Rothschild family.
