Jancis Robinson March - 2025
Jancis Robinson
Freshly picked black fruit, finely ground tannin, high but integrated acid and modest length. Tasty, modern, accessible bordeaux, drinkable now. (RH)

Vinum Wine Magazine
Of discreet spice, well-structured, balanced, possessing minerality, noticeable grain, the bitterness of the tannins is in keeping with the vintage. Good alcohol-acid balance.

Andreas Larsson - Tasted
A finely spicy version with the classic mocha and coffee notes, ripe dark berry and cassis flavours. The palate being dense with soft corners, moderate extraction, savoury and digest with fine layers and length.

This is so good, it is difficult to believe, that it is only a second wine. Texturally, the wine is rich, plush, polished elegant and fresh. You find layers of blackberry, currants and cassis paired with wet earth, flowers and tobacco leaf with a cool hint of spice on the nose and palate. The finish steals the show with its layers of ripe, sweet, lusciously textured black and red fruits. The wine can be enjoyed in its youth, but patience will be rewarded with all of its yet to come secondary nuances. Drink from 2025-2042. 94 Points

Falstaff February - 2022
Falstaff
Dark ruby red, opaque core, violet reflections, delicate brightening at the rim. Fine caramel and subtle roasted notes, a hint of strawberry jam, an inviting bouquet, gentle notes of cherries and fresh orange zest. Juicy, round and lively, fresh acidity, ripe, well-integrated tannins, already very well developed and approachable, medium length, a versatile food wine.

Jean-Marc Quarin March - 2022
Jean-Marc Quarin
Dark and intense color. Very aromatic nose, fruity, creamy and delicately smoky. It becomes more vibrant and spicier with swirling. Delicate on the entry, meticulous in the precision of its texture as is rarely seen, the wine moves straight through the palate with a surprising smoothness before showing a firmer finish. It is very good. Blend: 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot.

Wine Spectator March - 2022
Wine Spectator
Delivers a juicy core of lightly steeped black currant plum fruit that has a delightfully succulent edge, while hints of dark tobacco, warm earth and iron gently underline the perfumed finish. Approachable now, too. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.

Château Mouton Rothschild
Château Mouton Rothschild

Château Mouton Rothschild is one of the most iconic wine estates in the world. Located in the Pauillac appellation, it is the only estate in the official Bordeaux wine classification of 1855 to have been elevated to the rank of Premier Cru Classé in 1973, having initially been classified as a Deuxième Cru.

Acquired in 1853 by Nathaniel de Rothschild, the estate — then known as Brane-Mouton — became Château Mouton Rothschild and entered into legend under the impetus of Baron Philippe de Rothschild. A visionary, he profoundly modernized the vineyard, developed the cellars, and imposed an absolute commitment to quality, making Mouton one of the greatest wines of Bordeaux. His motto illustrates this unique ascent: "Premier je suis, second je fus, Mouton ne change."

The singularity of Mouton Rothschild is also expressed through its artistic labels, illustrated each year by great contemporary artists, reinforcing its cultural and heritage aura. This pursuit of excellence can also be found in the other properties of the Rothschild family, notably Château Clerc Milon and Château d'Armailhac.

From the mythical 1945 and 1961 vintages to the 1982 vintage and the 1996 wine, through to a more recent year such as the 2004 wine, the wines of Château Mouton Rothschild rank among the most coveted in the world of wine. The estate complements its grand wine with a second wine, Le Petit Mouton, created in 1993, and a rare white, Aile d'Argent.
