Jean-Marc Quarin February - 1997
Jean-Marc Quarin
Dark red color. Blood. Intense. Homogeneous. Slight evolution. Brilliant. Nose of medium intensity. Discreet. Fresh. Quite pure and complex. Spicy. On swirling, good intensity. Vegetal touch. Clean and lively attack in the style of the 88s, developing on a rich structure, with a creamy flavor, which evolves very slowly on good concentration and tight tannins, towards a finish with enveloped austerity, lacking a hint of maturity for its liveliness, but the persistence is long and fresh, with a return of the creamy character of Pauillacs. Can be tasted and kept.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
This wine has consistently exhibited a great deal of oak and peppery, mineral-scented black currant fruit in its blossoming nose. In the mouth, it exhibits the tannic ferocity that characterizes many 1986s, but is surprisingly lighter than I would have expected. A good effort, but it could use more depth and concentration, particularly if one compares it with the 1982 or 1989.

Château Latour
Château Latour

Château Latour is one of the most emblematic estates of the Pauillac appellation and a founding reference in Bordeaux wine history. Its name appears as early as the 14th century, linked to the presence of a watchtower on the Gironde estuary, whose proximity still profoundly marks the vineyard's identity. From the 18th century onwards, Château Latour wines have been recognized for their consistency and aging potential, establishing themselves among the greatest wines of the Médoc.

Classified as Premier Grand Cru Classé during the official 1855 classification, Château Latour occupies a central place at the top of the Bordeaux hierarchy. The estate is based on a particularly homogeneous terroir of deep gravels, dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, which gives the wines a powerful structure, remarkable depth and great regularity of expression.

The signature of Château Latour is distinguished by a dense tannic architecture and demanding construction, favoring precision and longevity rather than immediate seduction. Iconic vintages such as Château Latour 1945, Château Latour 1961, Château Latour 1990, Château Latour 1996, Château Latour 2000 or Château Latour 2009 illustrate the estate's capacity to consistently express the excellence of the Pauillac terroir and the singularity of its style.
