Cellar Tracker February - 2022

Light nose , classic Pauillac , dark red , leather, cassis, opened for 2 hrs, maybe needed more time . Dark fruits, a little earth. Elegant, light, maybe a little past it’s time. Very enjoyable all the same.

Jean-Marc Quarin April - 2001

Bordeaux red color. Medium to good intensity. Medium intensity nose. Fruity. Animal touch. Cocoa background. Entry on the palate with fresh fruit, developing smooth and savory on a blackcurrant flavor and medium body. Very pleasant wine without harshness or rusticity. Medium length. Seems better balanced than previous vintages.

Château Latour
Château Latour

Château Latour is one of the most emblematic estates of the Pauillac appellation and a founding reference in Bordeaux wine history. Its name appears as early as the 14th century, linked to the presence of a watchtower on the Gironde estuary, whose proximity still profoundly marks the vineyard's identity. From the 18th century onwards, Château Latour wines have been recognized for their consistency and aging potential, establishing themselves among the greatest wines of the Médoc.

Classified as Premier Grand Cru Classé during the official 1855 classification, Château Latour occupies a central place at the top of the Bordeaux hierarchy. The estate is based on a particularly homogeneous terroir of deep gravels, dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, which gives the wines a powerful structure, remarkable depth and great regularity of expression.

The signature of Château Latour is distinguished by a dense tannic architecture and demanding construction, favoring precision and longevity rather than immediate seduction. Iconic vintages such as Château Latour 1945, Château Latour 1961, Château Latour 1990, Château Latour 1996, Château Latour 2000 or Château Latour 2009 illustrate the estate's capacity to consistently express the excellence of the Pauillac terroir and the singularity of its style.
