Quite meatstocky and a bit dull, with a muddy aromatic showing some solid oak and a touch of black fruit. The palate too is lacking some mid-palate fruit, with the orangy acidity dominating. There is a fairly lean, savoury enjoyment here, and it finishes with a bit of balance and length.

Strong ruby garnet, firm color core, delicate ochre rim. On the nose delicate hints of dried plums, fine tobacco-like spice. On the palate red berry redcurrant fruit, appears rather lean, already drinkable, somewhat dry and rough in the finale, characterized by a distinctive tannin in the finish, today a good food companion, certainly equipped with the character of the house.

Tasted double decanted. This wine should have already been drunk and especially not served double decanted! It's a small vintage as everyone knows. It presents with a very evolved color. On the nose, the aromatic notes are poorly defined. On the palate, this wine still possesses the signature of this great terroir, but no flesh. With this tasting, I discovered that the cru, if it has a noble terroir, gives the foundation and the vintage the form. There remains something of the timelessness of the place in this 1992. On the side of temporality, time has almost already passed. It must be drunk without delay.

Slightly disappointing, yet good nonetheless. Focused core of dried cherry and berry character; medium-bodied and fruity, demonstrating silky texture. Drinkable now.

Very pale rim. Light, mild nose and pretty tight and austere. Very dry. Where’s the fruit?

Château La Mission Haut Brion
Château La Mission Haut Brion

Château la Mission Haut-Brion is a wine estate located in Talence, Gironde. Situated in the Pessac-Léognan AOC, it is classified as a grand cru in the Graves wine classification. The estate was purchased in 1983 by the Dillon family, owners of Haut Brion. It is undoubtedly this propensity to give everything at once that distinguishes the wines of La Mission Haut-Brion and attracts many tasters. It is also the heightened expression of the Graves de Pessac terroir. Throughout its aging process and as it matures, Mission Haut-Brion is always generous, constantly revealing itself fully. The hedonistic side of Mission Haut-Brion and the consistency of these qualities are particularities that make it very appealing. La Chapelle de la Mission Haut Brion is the estate's second wine.
