Wow , just a great bottle. Still bright, belies its age, sweet, cassis, leather, iron /ferrous/ palate still excellent, long , complex, still has structural tannins. Its drinking window still strong. Remarkable for 46 year old Bordeaux

(6-1993). Dark red. Good intensity. Advanced and always brilliant. Net. Average intensity. End. Fees and fruity. Net. More intense. Nuance fur and meat. Quite complex with a touch vegetal. Net attack developing on a large structure and juicy, fruity, good concentration. Slow evolution that evolves remarkably balanced tannins fat, to a final sappy and a bit austere persist long ripe fruit. Very long finish where there are racy notes. Great wine to start drinking. .

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
The first vintage made under the expert management of Jean-Eugene Borie and his son, Xavier, the 1978 remains a classic Pauillac with fine cellaring potential. Dark ruby garnet with a ripe, intense bouquet of cassis, fruit, cedar, and vanillin oakiness, this wine is rich, with excellent body and the tannins quickly melting away. It can be drunk now or cellared for another decade.

Château Grand Puy Lacoste
Château Grand Puy Lacoste

The Château Grand-Puy Lacoste is a french estate in Pauillac in Gironde. The vineyard has 55 hectares of vines. The Château Grand Puy Lacoste is a Fifth Classified Growth in the 1855 Médoc wine classification

The Château produces a second wine, Lacoste-Borie. It is made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and, of course, Merlot grapes.

The best years of the Château Grand-Puy Lacoste are the vintages 19471949 and 19591970 wines, crus classés of 1982 and 1986. Then, the vintages 1990 and 1994 are exceptional.
