 The 1978 Giscours continues to offer delicious drinking. The color is a healthy, nearly opaque dark garnet. The wine reveals a fragrant bouquet of cedar, dried herbs, black fruits, earth, and spice. It is medium-bodied, with outstanding concentration, a sweet mid-palate, and enough acidity to provide focus. This spicy, surprisingly rich as well as ripe 1978 continues to age marvelously well in the bottle. It is fully mature, but capable of lasting.

Château Giscours

Château Giscours is a Bordeaux wine estate located in Labarde in Gironde. Château Giscours produces wines under the AOC Margaux appellation. It is ranked among the Third Growth (Grand Cru Classé) in the official 1855 Bordeaux wine classification, and is one of the most important estates in the Médoc. The vineyard spans nearly 86 hectares within a 300-hectare property. Giscours thus continues the legacy of generations of winemakers, making this estate a world-renowned Grand Cru.

Note the existence of an impeccable second wine: La Sirène de Giscours.

The best vintages of Giscours are the 1945 wines, the 1961, 1982, and 1989 vintages which are excellent. Finally, the 1990 vintage, the 2000 and 2009 grand crus, as well as the 2015 vintage are among the Château's greatest achievements.
