Cellar Tracker March - 2024
Cellar Tracker
A deep and sound colour, a whiff of iodine, a tad sweet, the ripeness of the vintage, red fruit, noticeable wood; more power than you normally expect in the appellation Margaux; maybe a bit rough, but lots of fun in your glass.

An attractive Giscours that is at its peak now. Violets, red roses and cedar mingle with dark berry fruit and ripe tannins. Balanced, elegant and simply delicious.

Dark ruby color. Aromas of blackberry, minerals and licorice. Full-bodied, with firm tannins and a lovely currant character. Medium finish. Outstanding Giscours.

Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider
Cedar chest, tobacco, forest floor, menthol, and cassis aromas show a wine that is fully mature. This medium bodied wine ends with a short kirsch finish. Drink up as this is already starting to gently decline.

Jane Anson - Inside Bordeaux
Rustic brambled blackberry, tobacco and tomato leaf, soft on the finish, showcasing less precision than the older vintages of Giscours in this vertical, and it is disappointing compared to many 1990s from Left Bank classifieds. There was higher Merlot in the blend at this point after replanting, which may have had an impact.

Jean-Marc Quarin April - 1991

Dark red color. Black. Good intensity. Clean nose, of medium intensity. Fine with an oxidative note of cherry and plum. On swirling, clean and intense. Fruity with a cooked note. Soft attack. Supple structure of round form which evolves on a good balance towards fruity, woody tannins of good length. Beautiful aromatic persistence.

Château Giscours
Château Giscours

Château Giscours is a Bordeaux wine estate located in Labarde in Gironde. Château Giscours produces wines under the AOC Margaux appellation. It is ranked among the Third Growth (Grand Cru Classé) in the official 1855 Bordeaux wine classification, and is one of the most important estates in the Médoc. The vineyard spans nearly 86 hectares within a 300-hectare property. Giscours thus continues the legacy of generations of winemakers, making this estate a world-renowned Grand Cru.

Note the existence of an impeccable second wine: La Sirène de Giscours.

The best vintages of Giscours are the 1945 wines, the 1961, 1982, and 1989 vintages which are excellent. Finally, the 1990 vintage, the 2000 and 2009 grand crus, as well as the 2015 vintage are among the Château's greatest achievements.
