Dark ruby-garnet in color, with tobacco, chocolate and berry aromas. Medium- to full-bodied, with velvety tannins and plenty of milk chocolate on the finish. Slightly dry.

Jane Anson - Inside Bordeaux
The aromatics on the nose here are subtle, with ripe raspberry puree, tobacco leaf and truffle. It is not at the height of the best 1982s, but there is clear charm here, with gentle tawny autmnal brambled fruits, edges of patisserie flaky pastry, cinnamon spice, some clear warm vintage markers. In full tertiary phase, but with real charm. Light sediment, this needs to be carafed but only just before drinking, because it is still at an age that it needs to be taken care of.

Ruby, tea in color, with an earthy, tobacco cherry blossom, cedar, cigar box nose. Fully mature, the medium bodied wine is soft, silky and showing the patina of age, finishing with spicy, sweet, red plum notes. Popped and poured, there is no reason to hold this any longer.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
The 1982 Giscours was made during a period when this property was not at the top of its game. The color reveals considerable bricking and amber at the edge, and the wine exhibits the ripeness that was so prevalent in this vintage, but there is not much concentration. Some cedary, herbal, sweet currant and cherry notes are noticeable, but there is little depth or finish.

Château Giscours
Château Giscours

Château Giscours is a Bordeaux wine estate located in Labarde in Gironde. Château Giscours produces wines under the AOC Margaux appellation. It is ranked among the Third Growth (Grand Cru Classé) in the official 1855 Bordeaux wine classification, and is one of the most important estates in the Médoc. The vineyard spans nearly 86 hectares within a 300-hectare property. Giscours thus continues the legacy of generations of winemakers, making this estate a world-renowned Grand Cru.

Note the existence of an impeccable second wine: La Sirène de Giscours.

The best vintages of Giscours are the 1945 wines, the 1961, 1982, and 1989 vintages which are excellent. Finally, the 1990 vintage, the 2000 and 2009 grand crus, as well as the 2015 vintage are among the Château's greatest achievements.
